ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
TIM MCDANIEL
Tim McDaniel attended Oregon State University and graduated in
Botany and Crop Science. He worked in The Netherlands for
Barenbrug Seed doing plant genetics in Arnhem, Holland. He then
joined Shell Chemical to research nutrient stabilization and plant
pathology.
Tim later joined McDaniel Seed Company in
McMinnville, Oregon, as a seed production and crop consultant,
producing and processing many commercial species of seed for
domestic and export use.
Travels in Japan and elsewhere led
Tim to the University of Oregon and UCLA to earn a Master’s in
Landscape Architecture and he is a Registered Landscape Architect
in Oregon. He now does design work complemented with Oregon
natives for very low-maintenance landscapes using Japanese style
design principles.
His interest in and love for Oregon
native species began as a youth, hiking the Willamette Valley
prairies and Coast Range forests with friends and also on solitary
walks that helped to instill an understanding and appreciation for
the indigenous vegetation that grew here prior to the agricultural
ecosystem that threatens the remaining habitat of the remnant
stands of many beautiful native floral species and the fauna that
rely on them.
